About

This blog is the official information source and distribution point for the Basal Omni-Presence platform. Some services for discovery and technology subsystems are located at sub-domains and other related sites.

BOPSpace is virtual world platform that enables representations of any person, thing or place to be present on the network. A BOPSpace can be accessed via text, 2d graphic and various 3D graphic user interfaces. Like a movie which can be viewed on an IMAX theatre, TV/VCR, TV/DVD, or iPod-Touch, each individual experience of a BOP space will depend on the equipment being used. BOPSpace is based on open, standard object formats(JSON, XML) and is compatible with a variety of communication protocols and services(XMPP, OpenDHT, XML-RPC, CORAL and more) so it is interoperable with existing desktop and web applications as well as emerging 3D virtual worlds such as Croquet and Second Life. The ability to have multiple participants simultaneously collaborating is what’s driving the emerging virtual world or as I prefer to say, meshverse paradigm. It’s what makes the meshverse so different from the web. Or at least it did before BOPSpace! Now any web page can be a virtual location where people can gather and collaborate or an object in a virtual location!

BOPSpace allows people to set up and run virtual, mirror or augmented reality spaces on computers with minimal capacities without requiring any server resources or even knowledge of server systems. Today, all that is necessary to run a BOPSpace is a Google Talk or any other Jabber IM account, an internet connection and a computer that can run Windows XP, OS/X or Linux. Website and blog owners can create companion virtual worlds and objects for their and facilitate collaborative browsing by embedding the Google Talk Gadget. People using the Firefox web browser can create and gather at BOPSpaces associated with a web page or site. If you have access to server capabilities, the BOPSpace platform enables you to become a virtual land provider for individual, groups and large scale enterprises. In the near future, you won’t even need a Jabber id to host or participate in a BOP space.
